
A warrant is a formal legal document issued by an authorized official, such as a judge or magistrate, that grants permission for certain actions, like entering a property, searching premises, or arresting an individual. In Jamaica, under the Real Estate (Dealers and Developers) Act (REDDA), Part 5, a Justice of the Peace may issue a warrant if, based on sworn information, there are reasonable grounds to suspect that an offense under the act is being committed. The warrant allows an inspector, with or without a constable, to enter the specified premises at any time within one month from the date of issue, to investigate for evidence of the offense.
