Alexandria is a town located in the parish of Saint Ann, Jamaica, situated in the northern part of the island. Historically, Alexandria was known for its agricultural importance, with surrounding areas cultivating crops such as bananas, citrus fruits, and sugarcane. The town also gained attention due to the presence of the Armadale Juvenile Correctional Centre, a facility that, in 2009, was the site of a tragic fire that resulted in the deaths of five girls and the injury of several others. In the aftermath, the facility was relocated to Diamond Crest Villa near Alligator Pond in Manchester Parish. Alexandria’s real estate market has experienced gradual development, with the growth of residential and commercial properties, and as the community transitions from its history of industrial and institutional facilities, it is increasingly viewed as an area with potential for development.
