Brokerage is the business of helping people buy and sell things, like houses or stocks. In real estate, whether in Jamaica or anywhere else, a brokerage is a company where real estate agents work. These agents help people find homes to buy or rent and assist with selling their properties. The brokerage provides support and tools for the agents to do their job and usually gets paid a fee or commission when a deal is completed. For example, if you want to buy a house in Montego Bay, a real estate brokerage will help you find the right house and handle the paperwork. Beyond real estate, the word brokerage can also mean companies that help people trade in the stock market or other investments. They connect buyers and sellers and help manage trades. In both cases, a brokerage acts as a go-between to make buying or selling easier and ensures everything runs smoothly.
