Cinchona Botanical Gardens

Cinchona Botanical Gardens, located high in the hills of St. Andrew, Jamaica, is one of the highest botanical gardens in the Caribbean, sitting between 4,500 and 5,500 feet above sea level. Established in 1868, it’s the oldest of its kind in the region and has a rich history.

The garden is known for its beauty and offers stunning views of Strawberry Hill, the Blue Mountains, the Liguanea plains, and Kingston. Originally created to experiment with crops, it featured over 40 acres of Asian tea and plants from Europe, helping shape agriculture in Jamaica.

Today, the garden is being revitalized to preserve its natural beauty for future generations. Cinchona Botanical Gardens remains an important part of Jamaica’s heritage, offering rare plants and breathtaking views for visitors to enjoy.
