“Deh bout,” meaning “nearby” in Jamaican Patois, is commonly used to describe something or someone that is in close proximity. In the real estate context, this phrase often comes up when discussing the location of amenities or features that add value to a property. A seller might confidently say, “Di school and di market deh bout, so it good fi families,” emphasizing the convenience of the area. Similarly, a potential tenant could inquire during a rental tour, “Any bus stop deh bout? Mi need easy access fi work.” Real estate agents also use it to highlight selling points, such as shops, hospitals, or entertainment options, reassuring clients with phrases like, “Yuh cyaan go wrong, everything yuh need deh bout.” It’s a term that underscores the importance of location, seamlessly tying in the accessibility and convenience critical in property decisions.
