Dem is a Jamaican Patois term used to refer to “them” or “those,” typically addressing a group of people or things in a casual, familiar manner. It is a plural pronoun used to indicate people, objects, or entities previously mentioned or implied in the conversation. In the context of real estate, dem is commonly used to reference properties, buyers, sellers, or any group involved in the transaction. For example, a real estate agent might say, “Dem properties in Montego Bay a really good investment,” to emphasize the value of properties in that area. If speaking to a potential investor, an agent might ask, “Yuh tink dem houses fi rent out quick?” suggesting whether the properties in question would attract tenants fast.
