Over the last three to four years, I’ve noticed an exciting trend emerging in Jamaica’s residential architecture—homes with bold, modern lines and practical designs that are reshaping the landscape of our real estate. The style features homes that have a square or rectangular form with protruding windows, often set back within the wall, and flat concrete roofs. These homes are becoming increasingly popular, and for good reason—they offer a blend of style, functionality, and practicality suited to the modern Jamaican way of living.
One standout feature of these homes is the design of the windows. Instead of the traditional outward-facing, rectangular windows, we’re seeing more windows that are recessed into the wall, which is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional.
