The Governor-General of Jamaica, as the representative of the Jamaican monarch, currently King Charles III, is a cornerstone of the nation’s governance and constitutional framework. Appointed by the monarch on the advice of the Prime Minister, the Governor-General’s role encompasses constitutional duties such as appointing key government officials, granting royal assent to legislation, and overseeing election processes, while also retaining reserve powers for exceptional circumstances.
