Grove Hill House, situated in Montego Bay, St. James, stands as a testament to early eighteenth-century Georgian architecture. This elegant two-storey structure features a distinctive design where the ground floor is built from cut stone, repurposed from ballast originally shipped from Britain, while the upper level is constructed of wood. From its inception to the present day, the house has remained within the same family, maintaining a rich legacy of hospitality. Throughout its history, Grove Hill House has been a welcoming haven for numerous distinguished guests, particularly young officers from visiting ships. Among its notable visitors was Admiral Lord Nelson, who is remembered as one of the house’s esteemed guests. The long-standing tradition of gracious hosting at Grove Hill House underscores its historical significance and enduring charm.
