The Holy Trinity Anglican Church, located in Retreat, St. Mary, is a stunning example of historic Georgian architecture. Born in 1791 in Bowness, Rigg moved to Jamaica and made Retreat his home, where he lived for 35 years until his death in 1869.
The church is constructed from a mix of brick, cut stone, concrete, and wood, reflecting the materials commonly used in Georgian-style architecture. Positioned on the site of an old sugar estate, it is a testament to the colonial era’s influence on both architecture and society in Jamaica.
