In Jamaica, the Land Valuation Division is responsible for determining and communicating the value of properties for taxation and record-keeping purposes. Property owners are notified of these values through Notices of Valuation, which provide detailed assessments of the property’s unimproved value, sometimes referred to as the land value. This value reflects the market worth of the land itself, excluding any buildings, crops, or improvements made on it. The Notices of Valuation are sent to all registered landowners to ensure transparency and accuracy in property assessments.
