Hush yuh mouth: In Jamaican Patois, “hush yuh mouth” is a forceful way of telling someone to be quiet or stop talking, often used when someone is being overly loud, disruptive, or speaking out of turn. In real estate, this phrase might be used humorously or in a light-hearted manner to remind someone to stay focused or stop talking too much, especially in a high-stakes situation like negotiating a deal. For example, an agent might say to a client who is overly critical about minor details during a showing, “Mi know yuh want perfection, but hush yuh mouth, di house inna good condition.” Similarly, when dealing with multiple parties during a property transaction, an agent might use the phrase to keep things on track, “Hush yuh mouth an’ let mi finish di paperwork so wi can wrap up di deal today.” The phrase adds a bit of local flavor and can be used to inject humor or get a point across when trying to keep the conversation efficient and to the point.
