Irish Town is a charming mountain village located in the cool hills of the Blue Mountains, just under 10 km from Kingston in Saint Andrew Parish, Jamaica. Nestled at approximately 800 meters (2,600 feet) above sea level, it offers a serene retreat from city life with its misty peaks, clean air, and lush greenery. The area is especially known for its scenic beauty, cool climate, and breathtaking panoramic views. Irish Town’s name reflects its colonial past, where Irish indentured servants and prisoners were brought to Jamaica in the 17th century following British conquest. Many of these settlers established themselves in this mountainous region, leaving a cultural imprint still felt today. The village is also part of Jamaica’s famous Blue Mountain coffee belt, home to renowned plantations such as Craighton Estate, where visitors can explore the coffee-making process and sample some of the world’s best brews.
