Patois is a vibrant, expressive creole dialect shaped by the island’s rich heritage, influenced by African, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and English cultures. It represents the creative resilience of a people who, despite being thrust into a foreign society with a different language, found ways to speak in their own terms, giving voice and meaning to their unique experiences.
