JAREBA, or the Jamaica Association of Real Estate Brokers and Appraisers, was established in 1966 by a group of dedicated Jamaican real estate professionals who aimed to bring structure, professionalism, and ethical standards to the local industry. Initially a small organization focused on uniting brokers and appraisers, JAREBA became a significant force in Jamaican real estate, advocating for industry-wide regulations and integrity in business practices. This dedication laid the foundation for a nationally respected institution that shaped legislative reform. By 1970, JAREBA evolved into the REALTORS® Association of Jamaica (RAJ) after becoming an affiliate of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), aligning Jamaica’s real estate practices with international standards.
