Kettering Baptist Church, located in Duncans, Trelawny, is a historic landmark tied to Jamaica’s rich heritage and the abolitionist movement. Founded in 1844, the church is closely associated with William Knibb, the missionary and abolitionist who played a pivotal role in emancipation and the establishment of Kettering Free Village, one of Jamaica’s earliest free settlements for formerly enslaved individuals.

The church features classic Georgian architectural elements, characterized by symmetry, clean lines, and traditional materials like brick, stone, mortar, and timber. Its steeply pitched hip roof enhances both aesthetics and functionality, suited to Jamaica’s climate. A small porch with a belfry, likely added later, marks the entrance and adds to its historical charm.
