Mastodon’s decentralized approach

Mastodon operates as a decentralized social network, meaning it consists of multiple independent servers (or “instances”) rather than a single, centralized platform like Facebook or Twitter. Each server is managed by its own administrator, who sets the rules, moderates content, and decides who can stay or be removed.

Warning: This structure creates a lack of uniform policies and accountability. Your experience on Mastodon can vary drastically depending on the server you join and the biases of its administrator. Some servers may be open and fair, while others may reflect regional, political, or ideological prejudices. If you’re removed from one, you might not get an appeal—your access can be cut off instantly, with no explanation.

For professionals, including real estate agents, this makes Mastodon an unpredictable and risky investment of time and effort. Proceed with caution.
