Multifamily properties are buildings where more than one family can live. These could be duplexes, where two families live in separate parts of the same house, or big apartment buildings with lots of units. In Jamaica, people often buy multifamily properties to rent out the apartments to different people or families. This way, the owner can make money from rent. For example, if someone owns a building with five apartments, they can rent each one to a different family or person.
