“Mussa” is a Jamaican Patois term that translates to “must” or “must be” in English. It is often used to express certainty, a strong likelihood, or an expectation about something. In real estate, “mussa” can be used to indicate the necessity or requirement of certain conditions, features, or actions in a property search or transaction. For example, a potential buyer might say, “Di house mussa have a big backyard fi di pickney,” meaning “The house must have a big backyard for the children.” It can also reflect a sense of expectation, like when someone is discussing the features they expect in a home, saying, “Mussa have di right location if yuh want fi live comfortable.” This shows that the location is an important factor for comfort and livability.
