A Pre-Licensing Course is a required class that someone must take before they can become a licensed professional, such as a real estate agent. In Jamaica, if you want to work in real estate, you need to complete this course to learn the important rules and skills for the job. This includes things like understanding how property sales work, knowing the laws that protect buyers and sellers, and learning the ethics of the real estate business. Once you finish the course, you will take a test. Passing this test shows that you’re ready to handle the responsibilities of a real estate agent, and only then can you get your license from the Real Estate Board of Jamaica. This is similar to what happens in other countries too. For example, in the U.S., people who want to work in real estate also have to take a pre-licensing course to learn about property laws and how the market works before they can take their licensing exam.
