Steel framing is a modern construction technique using steel as the main material for a building’s structure, gaining popularity for both commercial and residential projects. This method, which has evolved from early 20th-century industrial practices, offers several benefits over traditional wood framing. Steel-framed homes are more resistant to weather and high winds, and they provide better fire resistance. Unlike wood, steel does not rot, split, or buckle, leading to reduced maintenance needs. Additionally, steel is less susceptible to pests like termites and issues with mold and fungi, resulting in fewer indoor allergens. While steel framing can be as cost-effective as wood, it provides enhanced durability and protection.
