As the founder of Jamaica Homes, I hold a deep conviction about the transformative power of homeownership for every hard-working Jamaican. This belief is not just a personal mantra; it is rooted in our national pride and echoes the spirit of our independence and emancipation. Homeownership goes beyond merely providing a roof over one's head; it symbolizes a secure future, stability, and embodies the quintessential Jamaican dream.
However, this dream feels increasingly out of reach for many, particularly for our dedicated educators. The statistics tell a troubling story. In 2022 alone, over 1,500 teachers left their positions in just the first nine months, a number that has significantly impacted our education system. Although the situation improved slightly in the following year, with around 427 teachers resigning by mid-August, the trend remains concerning and indicative of a larger issue at hand.
