The terms customer and consumer are often used interchangeably in Jamaica’s real estate market, but they have distinct meanings:

Customer:

A customer in Jamaica’s real estate industry is an individual or organization that purchases property or related services. They are the buyer in a transaction, and their main interaction is with the realtor, developer, or property seller. A customer may or may not be the end user of the property.

  • Example: A returning Jamaican living abroad buys a vacation home in Ocho Rios. The returning resident is the customer.

  • Example: A developer purchases multiple lots in Mandeville to construct homes for sale. The developer is the customer.
