The People’s National Party (PNP) is a political party in Jamaica. It was founded in 1938 by National Hero Norman Manley and is one of the two major political parties in Jamaica, the other being the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP). The PNP describes itself as a social-democratic party and has traditionally advocated for progressive policies, social justice, and economic development. Over the years, the PNP has played a significant role in Jamaican politics, alternating in power with the JLP. Some of its notable leaders include Norman Manley, Michael Manley, and Portia Simpson-Miller.
