“Wid” is the Jamaican Patois equivalent of the English word “with” and is commonly used in everyday speech to indicate accompaniment, possession, or association. It’s a flexible term used to show connection, such as in “Mi deh yah wid mi fren,” meaning “I’m here with my friend,” or “Mi waan di house wid di big yard,” meaning “I want the house with the big yard.” In the context of real estate, it might be used when discussing features of a property or when pointing out the benefits of a home. For example, an agent could say, “Dis house come wid a pool an’ a nice big verandah,” meaning “This house comes with a pool and a nice big veranda.” “Wid” helps convey the relationship between items, people, or places in real estate transactions, whether referring to amenities, the connection between buyers and sellers, or even in casual conversations about property expectations.
